An artist, cartoonist and press illustrator, Tomasz Broda has been drawing since childhood and he started his artistic efforts by smearing a half-eaten apple on a wall. He graduated from the Higher School of Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Wrocław in Painting, Graphics and Sculpture. He graduated with distinction on the Study of Graphic Design course led by Professor Jaromir Aleksiun. He is best known for book illustrations, posters, drawings, painting and has also worked as a scenery and costume designer at the Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw and Teatr Polski in Wrocław.
His work has featured in”Gazeta Wyborcza”, ”Rzeczpospolita”, ”Polityka”, ”Odra” and”Słowo Polskie”. As a creator of masks and puppets, he has made several television appearances in Poland and on the German ARD station. He has frequently won prizes at the Satyrykon International Exhibition, the winner of award for Book Of the Year 2008 for the illustrator of the year by Polish Branch of IBBY.
