Szymon Biernacki
- born 1985
- born in Warsaw
- lives and works in Warsaw
- specializes in artistic direction in animated movies
“A concept is a kind of puzzle – no matter if it requires to find a visual style or to design new world described in a script. In the same time it requires non-stop learning which brings particular satisfaction when another aspect of this art has been understood”.
Everything he does is connected with animated movies as well as his artistic perspective. He looks for the essence of things through stylization and simplification. That is why he favours caricature as a form of searching for characteristic features and highlighting them. He mostly designs environments and he is in charge of artistic supervision. Work on colour, light and stylization plays important role in his art. He treats his private output as testing ground for ideas for commercial projects. His every-day dose of picture stimulation he obtains from artists community in the Internet. More inspirations however he draws from films, travels and also works of art of both contemporary and erstwhile artists like Joaquin Sorolla, Eyvind Earle or Alberto Mielgo. He creates his art only digitally in Photoshop by use of professional tablet.
Biernacki is an architect engineer graduated from Architecture Department of Warsaw Technical University. Among his most valuable projects he mentions work on animated series “Halo 4 Spartan Ops”, animated film “Smallfoot”, waiting for its premiere and traditional animated full-length production “Klaus”. He worked with various studios including Axis Animation, Blur, Platige Image or Warner Bros.
