“I am a wonderful husband and a loving father. I do not smoke, have no vices. I am an unrealized Kung-Fu master with irritating sense of humour. I love comics, board and computer games. What attracts me most in my work of an illustrator/concept artist is that I can be at home all the time”.
He is a master of balance in his art aiming to obtain lightness and pictorialness. He takes care of dynamic composition yet balanced as well as used colours. He used to have a true passion for knights. He spent many years among reenactors, the knights’ brotherhoods and now he returns to it painting fantastic worlds full of brave warriors, dragons and other mythical characters. Works of other graphics and painters are strong inspirations for him, as well as music, film, comics and lately history books. He creates mostly digitally using graphic tablet Cintiq. More often he returns to traditional techniques. He makes first studies and sketches using pencil and acrylic paint.
Maniak graduated from Law Department at Gdańsk University but on the field of concept art and illustration being his main professional area, he is a self-educated person. Although he began his adventure with art during law studies, he quickly developed his talents. He made illustrations for games including: “Magic: the Gathering”, “World of Warcraft”, “Warhammer” and “Star Wars”. He also co-worked with the project of “The Witcher 2”, “Cirisis 2” or “Hearthstone”. Currently he cooperates with Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard Entertainment, and his portfolio contains also cooperation with the following studios Games Workshop and CD Projekt Red.
