“Sometimes I wonder what a greater fun – drawing or playing drums is. Although I have not found the answer, I know, illustration helps me to achieve both by designing music posters.”.
His works could be described as a combination of street art and children book illustration. He graduated from Higher School of Ecology and Management in Warsaw Landscape Architecture Department but his real passion and profession are illustration and graphics. Besides he plays drums in bands Hidden World and The Feral Trees. In his work he gains inspiration from illustrations from matchboxes (from Eastern Europe in the 60s), skateboard graphics from the 80s and American concert screen prints from the 90s (gigaposters). Especially the latter occupy a special place in his art.
Dawid Ryski’s works were published in the following magazines: “Przekrój”, “Wprost”, “Maleman”, “Glamour”, ”Duży Format”, “Charaktery”, “Newsweek Polska”, “Zwierciadło” and “Znak” but also foreign periodicals: “New York Observer”, “Computer World”, “American Lawyer Magazine”, “Health Leader Media”, “Variety”.
