“Thick of Nothing”
Jan Bajtlik graduated with distinction from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 2013, studying in the Editor Graphics Workshop led by Prof. Lech Majewski and the Book Design Workshop led by Prof. Maciej Buszewicz. He is currently a postgraduate in the Graphics Department of the Academy. He also lectures in editorial graphics in the New Media Arts Department of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw. In 2014 he won the Młoda Polska scholarship organised by the Ministry of Culture and, in 2015, he also won another Ministry of Culture Prize for his children’s book designs. He makes posters and illustrations and also runs artistic workshops for young people and children.
He has had his work published in “Architektura”, “Gazeta Wyborcza”, “Przekrój”, “Tygodnik Powszechny”, “Time Magazine”, “The New York Times”, “Forbes Magazine” and “Liberation and Courrier International”, as well as any others, winning numerous international and national prizes in graphic art competitions, including the silver medal in the 10th International Poster Triennial in Japan and the Poster Biennial in Mexico (2016), as well as being two-times winner of the AMS poster competition. His children’s book “Typogryzmoł” has been translated into five languages and honoured with the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi Award in the non-fiction category. In 2016, he started to produce work for the famous French fashion designer, Hermes Paris.
