Although Piotr Depta-Kleśta belongs to the young Polish artists generation, the style of artistic discourse reveals a developing mature personality. As many representatives of the younger generation, he also strives at purifying the essential artistic form, ridding it of unwanted ornaments and eliminating the excessive content layer. Via a controlled use of traditional painting, drawing and graphic techniques, he seeks primary art signs, reaching down to the rudiments of the language of arts – abstract or nearly abstract geometric forms delivering artistic message in a simple, yet suggestive manner. Many of his works are based on techniques rooted in the area of visual identification systems. Others develop visual motifs to form the so-called “carpet” compositions created by means of multiplication and serial element expansion. Invention, wit, directness and rapid, sketch-like forms, devoid of the importunity of perfectionism, give his works an aura of freshness and authenticity.
