The characteristic feature of posters by Kaja Renkas is their grotesque and macabre mood of surrealistic origin. The visual form presented in a retro style is built through combination of originally strange elements in the collage technique, thanks to which the presented world obtains new semantic dimensions. The source of inspiration for the image concept understood in this way shall be sought in the works of Max Ernst in the periods of Dadaism and Surrealism. The artist uses various picture motifs from previous painting tradition as well as old photos, graphics and postcards, which, once scanned, are assembled into new formal and iconographic combinations. Except for computer techniques, she uses the means of artistic expression suitable for drawing, painting and graphics. Kaja Renkas also gives a characteristic colour to her posters. They are dominated by fading, steel-silver or sepia colour schemes, enlivened with delicate, faded pink, aquamarine, orange, red and blue. The posters bring to mind the mood of bygone, coloured, old photographs and postcards.
