“I don’t like the term artist. An illustrator should just be called a capable craftsman who can do the task received from a client well. When you have to meet deadlines, there is no time for inspiration”.
In the years 2003‒2007, he studied at the Faculty of Graphics and Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. He obtained his diploma in the Studio of Copper-plate Printing Techniques of Professor Krzysztof Wawrzyniak in the Chair of Workshop Graphics. Previously, he completed English Philology studies at the University of Wrocław.
He has presented his works in individual and group exhibitions organised in Poland (Łódź, Szczecin and Warsaw) as well as abroad (Haarlem, Ithaca, Lahti, London, Los Angeles, Milan, New York and San Francisco).
The most important prizes and distinctions: finalist of the American Illustration Awards, 2012, 2013 and 2015; finalist of the New York Festivals Awards, 2013; gold medal of the Society of Illustrators New York in Advertisement category, 2014; two gold medals of the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles in Entertainment and Self-Promotional category, 2015; distinction in the “Graphis” magazine competition, 2015; bronze medal of the European Design Awards, 2015; nomination for the World Illustration Awards, 2015 and 2017; a prize and distinction in 3×3 Illustration Competition, 2015 and 2017; distinction of the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, 2016; finalist of Spectrum 23 Award, 2016.
He is an artist with a perfect workshop, huge sensitivity and perfectly mastered ability of shaping the artistic synthesis of visual form. The artistic medium of Bartosz Kosowski’s style is a delicate line with a peaceful, even beautiful duct, sometimes subtly winding and, on other occasions, bringing out of the presented element, in the simplest manner, what is most important in the artistic sense. A specific liturgical mood is strengthened by a subtly washed glazed colour applied strictly within the shape outline, delicately vibrating, with peaceful pastel synchronisations of the faded colours. The decorative and lyrical quality of the posters is emphasised by sublime lettering elements with a beautiful font located in a manner not competing with the picture motif. Bartosz Kosowski creates mostly film posters finding their content essence and artistic charm which mainly influence the aesthetic sensitivity of viewers.
